Shining as Lights in the World

"Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed me, not only in my presence but much more now in my absence, work on your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Do all things without murmuring and arguing,.."                                                                                                    (Philippians 2:12-14)

On Sunday, 18th October, the six-week series named "God at Work" is going to start and a notebook will be available for the series.

God has created us with a purpose. (Jeremiah 29:11) The LORD says, "For I have plans for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

In the following six to eight weeks, I hope that we will all have the opportunity to respond to God's invitation to join Him and take an active part in His mission for the world. Every week I ask you to do a simple thing, for example praying and asking God to reveal to you one way in which you can serve other people at work, at home, or in your neighbourhood. Each week, record the ways in which God is inviting you to work with Him.

We don't need to figure out God's mission; instead, we can look for where God is already active and pay attention to how He is calling us to take part. As 1 Corinthians 12:18 states, "But as it is, God has arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose." God determines what each person should do, and sometimes people are not satisfied with the role God has assigned them.

My uncle Bernard often says, "Shine for Jesus." As Paul wrote to the Philippians, "God is at work in you, enabling you to both will and to work..."

If you already know God’s purpose for your life, the place God has assigned you, I suggest you keep doing good and not become discouraged. If you are uncertain, ask God.

Keep the Faith!
