It’s so easy to find fault with people. After all, none of us are perfect, and mistakes are bound to happen. Sometimes, we focus too much on those mistakes—our own and others.

As I’ve been reflecting on my time at Howick Community Church and spending time with God, one thing stood out to me: I haven't told you all in a while how much I truly love being here. So, let me take this moment to say it now—I love you.

I remember someone once asking me, “I don’t understand how you can love me when you don’t even know me!” My response then is the same as it is now: “God fills our hearts with love for others.” Alex and I are incredibly grateful to be a part of this faith community. We appreciate both the big moments and the small, everyday instances of love, service, and growth within our church family and our wider community.

I could fill pages naming everything that fills my heart with joy, but I’ll mention just a few. I’m in awe of the incredible work happening in Children’s Ministry, at Blokes Breakfast, and through our hirers. These are just some of the ways I see God’s work unfolding here, and it fills me with love, joy, and gratitude. I also listen as the elders and trustees discuss the present and future of HCC. Their concern for the challenges we face and their excitement for new possibilities speaks volumes. I love how deeply they care about both the present and the future of this church.

I see the love and support in our home groups, where people rally around each other in times of need. I admire the countless volunteers who work tirelessly, driven by their love for God and His people.

As for Alex and me, while many of you have known each other for years, we’re still in the process of truly understanding and becoming part of Howick Community Church. Building strong relationships takes time, and in our nearly three years here, we’ve learned that we love this church deeply. We are committed to working alongside each of you in this part of God’s Kingdom.

Healthy relationships take time to nurture. We are still growing together, and we hope that you feel the love we have for you is as strong as ever.

Brigitte & Alex

Much love and appreciation for your prayers, love, and support.
