What are you looking for? Where are you staying?

2023 has already started! I cannot believe how quickly time is going.

I have been spending a lot of time reading the Bible and praying. And NO! It is not because I am a pastor (LOL) I love spending time with God, in His word and in conversation.

This passage in John 1:36-39 grabbed my attention.

John’s disciples started following Jesus without calling out to him or announcing themselves. Jesus stopped, turned around, saw them following him and asked: “What are you looking for?” or “What do you want?” They answered with another question: “Rabbi (Teacher), where are you staying?” Jesus replied equally cryptically.

John 1:39 “Come and see” he said…” they went with him to the place where he was staying, and they remained with him for the rest of the day.”

What are you looking for in 2023? If Jesus asked you that question, what will you say? It is a question Jesus had asked frequently of people he encountered.

In answering with a question of their own, the disciples made it clear that they wanted to stay where Jesus was staying. In essence they wanted to be in proximity to hear his teaching and to observe his ways.

Again, if this question was posed to you:” Where are you staying?”, how will you answer it?

So, beloved, what do you want from Jesus, and how close are you staying to Him?
